We figured that if millions of people would watch recycled celebrities dance the fox trot for hours on television (and in 3d no less), that at least a million of us would love to watch someone we know and like trying to outfish someone else we know and like at the very best fishing grounds in the world.
One guy came up with Henry "the Fonz" Winkler against John "the thetan" Travolta. fly fishing for Tarpon in Islamorada then fly fishing for trout in Montana.
One of the girls suggested Andy Mills challenging Greg Norman fly fishing for bonefish and Norman challenging Mills to a blue marlin tussel in the Bahamas.
Someone said that Tiger Woods would be fun to watch fishing against any other star. And I kept thinking of the laughs we'd get if it was Sir Nick Faldo, especially after a day on the stream at a local streamside pub.
One of the staff suggested that we just get out the word to the professional fishing guides and captains who have stars as clients, and let them put together a head-to- head competition among their clients and the star he or she wants to take on while fishing.
Guides know the best place and the best time for the most exciting challenge so they would be great in helping make the location selection.
And my wife, who is always right, said. "Shoot (not exactly) why not just announce plans for the TV show on the web site and invite the stars to contact you if they want be part of it, who they want to fish against and when they are available."
So that is the start. We are recruiting stars who love to fish, guides and captains who have star clients, resorts that are frequented by stars who love to fish, and the usual suspects who might want to sponsor such a high interest television show.
When we get some in the can we will be taking appointments from syndicators and networks.
We have the veteran camera and production team.
